The fourth game of the iDOLM@STER franchise, released on September 17, 2009 under The iDOLM@STER 2nd Vision label. The game follows the career of three idols who works for the 876 Production studio.
In this game is introduced the studio called 876 Production, with the idols Hidaka Ai, Mizutani Eri and Akizuki Ryo and its president Ishikawa Minori.
The game deviates from previous entries in the series in the respect that the player takes the role of an idol, rather than the role of a producer like in previous games. In the game, each of the three playable characters will have her or his own story, starting shortly before the idol in question joins 876 Production, a talent agency that serves as a central element of the game´s setting.
The IDOLM@STER Dearly Stars continues the story from The iDOLM@STER SP. This has been further suggested to be the case by several 765 characters making an appearance in promotion material as already being successful idols.
